Seven unique individuals graduated from their own personal, and often emotional, KDS journeys in Stirling as the KDS Care course came to an end. This four week, Training for Work, Academy allowed candidates to overcome the challenges in their own lives, break out of their comfort zones and evaluate, and make changes to, their personal lives and career plans! Personalities grew as these changes were made and the candidates became more confident in their own abilities and realised that they did have a place in the working world and lots of skills to offer an employer!
The Academy covered the Care sector specific elements including the Role of the Careworker, Introduction to Food Hygiene, Introduction to Infection Control, Health and Safety, Mental Capacity, Emergency First Aid, Moving of Objects and Assisting People and much more! Also covered were employability, mock interviews, Life Coaching and Personal Enhancement sessions and the Buddy Day, all of which has equipped the candidates with the necessary skills to achieve and sustain a job within the Care Sector!
Employer visits from Stoneywood Care Services and ILS Scotland gave valuable insight into the realities of the job role and what the experiences were of staff who have been active within the industry and are still enjoying it and making a daily impact into the lives of the their service users.
The KDS formula continues to work its magic and support people into sustainable employment, none of this would be possible without the support of all our partners and the candidates who come onto the courses and work together to give the levels of success that we are seeing!
Seven very proud, and EMPLOYED, individuals received their certificates at the Graduation ceremony where they all celebrated their success with the people who had supported them along the away. The Care sector is lucky to have gained these skilled individuals who will take what they have learned and continue to spread the word that TRAINING + KDS = SUCCESS!
