Stirling retail grad

Number Crunching!

News stories carry the doom and gloom of recession hit retailers, however there are great jobs out there for great people. As the four week, intensive training course completes, there have been no less than 50 applications made, 15 interviews attended and 18 days of work experience completed, on top of 19 days training, including some candidates completing 4 days of intensive IOSH Health & Safety certification. 14 candidates completed the course, 13 at graduation, 2 start their new jobs on Monday coming with top brands such as Laura Ashley & Benefit Cosmetics in Debenhams. 5 Candidates completed work experience with one if the UK's most prominent Arcadia brands, BHS. (and one stirling shoplifter was caught in the act by 3 of our work experience team!!)

Success

KDS' success comes from training canidates on the hard skills they'll need to do the job in the sector, but perhaps more importantly, the soft skills on teambuilding, communication and self awareness that improves sustaining those jobs. This unique approach delivers success after success, from improving confidence, restoring self belief, to pushing canidates out of their own comfort zone to show what can be achieved. Candidate Linda told how she put into action the "Do something different" message. So she did. She asked for an application form, despite there apparently being no vacancies in one shop, then having met the manager she left with an application form, then had an interview, then got offered the job!! 8 months out of work following redundency and now walks into a new role on Monday. At today's graduation it was a common thread, that all candidates have improved confidence levels, high motivation to secure employment and a belief that they can do it.

Trainers Ali & Roger were also both surprised with flowers and a gift, and thanked for making a difference in such a short space of time. Director of Training Andrew Craig presented the certificates of achievement to the group and he commented, "Whilst this course ends today, its only the start of new opportunities."
