KDS receive Big Lottery Fund award

The efforts to tackle Scotland’s rising unemployment rate have today received a Lottery boost with the announcement of grants to organisations helping Scots back into sustainable employment.

More than 200 long term unemployed adults across Scotland will be supported to find work, thanks to an award of £285,000. KDS will run a number of training academies where people will learn everything from Attitude and Motivation future planning through to customer service and interview techniques. Upon completing the course they will be matched with potential employers. Following the success of its last training academy 78% of participants went on to get jobs with Kidd's Distribution Services and other organisations.

Stevie Kidd, Managing Director, KDS said: “In early 2008 KDS faced major challenges where we were losing our trained staff to the ‘big players’ in the sector. As a result we began taking on people who were long term unemployed and provided them with training opportunities to help support them into sustainable employment within the distribution sector.

“Thanks to this award we to can now help as many people as possible across Scotland into meaningful employment. We want to develop and improve partnerships in Scotland to best serve those individuals who choose to take part in our training initiatives and this would not have been possible without the support of this Big Lottery Fund grant.”
