Graduation AND Employment success in East Renfrewshire!

Today is your day! The next chapter starts for East Renfrewshire Academy!

Sunny Newton Mearns and the final day of Academy 24’s journey. What an amazing end and what a high to finish on.Katie and Rav hosted the graduation with 12 very proud Academy Graduates present. Also there was Stevie Hunter, Training Manager for KDS and two representatives from WorkER, part of East Renfrewshire Council.

With photos projected onto the wall that were taken throughout the four week Care Academy, we watched snapshots from Buddy Day at David Lloyd Club, Interview Day, and the daily team photos which charted the change from Day one onward. One by one each candidate was presented with their Academy framed photo, their certification of achievements in each module including 6 mandatory units that will go towards their SVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care.

What an achievement for each individual and as a group to have worked through a jam packed course, a roller coaster of a ride with fun and laughter, some tears and light-bulb moments too. As the presentations were handed out, one by one each candidate took the floor and spoke of their best moments, their most memorable parts of the course and more importantly, the change they felt. A few tears from candidates and within the audience.

Then the moment where possibility turned into reality. Four of the group were advised that their interviews at Nazareth House had turned into employment offers! Then potential roles were confirmed at BUPA &The Firs, and application forms submitted and interviews confirmed with Allied and Southern Cross. Each candidate now is looking forward to the continuation of their own story, knowing that they have the power to write their own ending.
