Care sector Academy Inspires

Care Academy group The latest care sector academy continues on its successful journey.

The Academy was further boosted by the visit of Mark McKirdy who enjoyed a period of work experience with the KDS Group in April.

Mark spoke passionately about the impact his time with the KDS Group had been both personally and professionally.

The latest Academy has been beneficial for all involved in expanding their working knowledge and, of equal importance, fostering a strong inner confidence to face the challenges during these difficult times.

The mix of unemployed people and those who require learning support has brought out the best in all and created a strong group.

An example is Deborah who requires learning support. Michelle, a KDS Trainer on the Academy, has witnessed Deborah's confidence surge.

Michelle commented “Deborah, at the beginning of the Academy, was withdrawn, timid and did not interact with the rest of the group. It was clear that she was lacking self-confidence.

"However, these barriers, which were holding her back, have crumbled away quickly due to the fantastic team we have on the Academy and at KDS Training.”

The opportunity to work in a mixed group has been one of the key factor in improving Deborah's confidence.

Michelle added “I think before Deborah would have been more dependant on friends and family. She has really grown into herself and consequently flourished within the group.

"She is making jokes, sharing stories and interacting with us all. Her self-confidence and bubbly character is really shining through.

"She inspires us as we inspire her.”

With the Academy still in full flow Deborah and the rest of the candidates will continue to learn their core professional skills to support their future careers but with the strong foundation that the Academy offers them personally.

KDS Training work flat out to develop our candidates and to ensure that they enter the job market fully prepared.

Deborah and the rest of the candidates inspire us to start every day more energised and invigorated.
