The pilot scheme will start with an open day in September inviting school pupils from Trinity and Castlehead High Schools to Reid Kerr College to find out about the KDS Training Academy and the possibilities for employment that it offers. A recruitment and selection process will then be gone through to pick suitable 8 school leavers for the youth academy.
The Academy itself will comprise of a 1-day a week training day for 10 weeks, on completion of our training academy, KDS aims to have given these young adults motivation, direction and even the possibility of working in the distribution industry.
Working in partnership with local authorities, KDS will offer this alternative route into work for young people, in line with Stevie Kidd’s belief that more should be done to help young people find direction and motivation to go out into the workplace.
