Although this was the first academy designed specific to care, it is the seventh academy since February 2008 aimed at getting long tern unemployed individuals back into sustainable jobs.
The course covered a range of care related and soft skill subjects including all mandatory training required to work within the care sector. It was aimed at individuals interested in a career in care with no previous experience and included short placements within local care homes as a practical guide.
On completion of the course interviews were offered throughout the care sector and to date 6 individuals have gained full time employment, with a further 3 interviews imminent.
Once these have been completed, all 9 candidates placed on the course will have been successful in obtaining full time employment.
