In Edinburgh the new pilot warehouse/logistics academy, in partnership with A4e, is already having an impact on the candidates and making people sit up and take notice.
The first week started with the “One Step” forward session about how you can change your whole life viewpoint. The candidates were roused by Stevie Kidd's first session on motivation and personal enhancement.
The main topics of the day were “Who am I?” and “Are you more than you are currently living?”. Stevie asked every candidate to look closely at who they were and where they wanted to go.
The importance of relationships, behaviour excellence, communication and self confidence challenged the candidates to rise from their comfort zone and explore their potential.
As one candidate said “It was Fantastico!”.
The second week continues with personal branding, the job market and understanding what employers require.
The candidates on this pilot scheme are starting to flourish!
Meanwhile our East Renfrewshire Academies on care and retail continue apace.
The care academy is now into its third week with mind over matter and fitness sessions at the David Lloyd Sports Centre.
The previous week saw all candidates create personal wish lists for Stevie Kidd that let them focus on their personal goals.
Creating Johari Windows helped them realise their attributes and values and is something the candidates constituently work on.
Mandatory training has given them all an excellent understanding of what working in the care sector involves.
One candidate commented “We have formed as a group, a team and are friends. With the time remaining on this Academy we are looking forward to the tasks and challenges ahead with laughter, tears and good fun along the way!”.
The retail Academy, the first in this sector, is now onto its second week. This involves the 14 candidates linking with companies in this sector for their buddy days. An important time for them all.
It is also an excellent opportunity to put their new found confidence, drive and sector knowledge to the test whilst making connections within the industry they are keen to work within.
