KDS Training Academies: Making Real Changes for Good
The KDS Training Academy offers a unique approach to meet the challenge of long-term unemployment. We aim to place the long-term unemployed into meaningful long-term employment in specific sectors, such as the distribution industry and the food and care sectors. Of the candidates who leave our Training Academies, more than 90 per cent have gone into sustained employment. What Our Trainees Learn
Our Training Academies aren't only dedicated to teaching the "hard skills" needed to get employment. We recognise that often people need to acquire the "soft skills" of motivation and commitment, as well as attitudes of confidence and self-belief to get them back to work.
We often find that our Training Academy candidates have all the resources they need inside of themselves to become happier individuals engaged with the world around them in a fulfilling and life-enhancing way - it's simply that they haven't been taught how to use their skills. Or they are held back by unhelpful beliefs about their capabilites.
It's our job to get them past those hindrances to enable them to flourish and grow. Because once the limiting beliefs they once held are behind them, they begin to see what they are truly capable of. It is for this reason that so many of our Training Academy graduates report attending the four week Academy as a "genuinely life-changing experience."
How We Get People Into Work
KDS Training partners with employers to support unemployed individuals into sustained employment across a range of sectors. As part of the KDS Group we have direct access to employment opportunities within our group, and we have established close links to partner employers in the distribution, care and the food sectors in key geographical areas. With these unique connections, we are able to support a very high percentage of people through our intensive training academies into employment. And we don't just do things in the conventional way. One of the many unique attributes of our courses is our ability to bring the latest cutting-edge psychological teachings to our training rooms. We know how to give individuals the motivation and lust for life that they need in order to start living a more fulfilling and satisfying life. We do this through the use of non-conventional methods such as incorporating NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) into our training offering, and providing life skills coaching that helps to give people the most useful attitude not only to work, but to living.
We successfully work with people who may face multiple barriers to employment including, for example, health barriers – people who may have been on long term incapacity benefit and people who may have trouble accessing suitable employment due to childcare commitments, in other words, people who are furthest from the labour market. No walk of life or background is too challenging: our Training Academies aim to help anyone who is willing to get back into work.
